Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary
Monkey Forest Ubud is located in Padangtegal village Ubud, Bali. It’s a part of Kahyangan Tiga Temples, where’s the three main God (Brahma, Wishnu, Siwa) are worshiped and the God of Siwa is worshiped at Pura Dalem Agung Temple at Monkey Forest.
There are three holy temples in The Sacred Monkey Forest, those are:
- The Pura Dalem Agung Temple is located in the southwestern portion of the main forest area.
- The Holy Bathing Temple with a structure of “Three Mandalas”
The Utama Mandala, in the most northern position is the area of the God
The Madia Mandala, for disciples of the deities, is located at the center and contains the holy pool
The Nista Mandala, at souhtern bridge, is the special bathing place for human beings.
- The third temple, the Pura Prajapati (the funeral or cremation temple) is located on the eastern edge of the main forest, a long side a graveyard
The Monkeys that live in this sanctuary are called Balinese macaques, also known as long-tail macaques. Their scientific name is macaca fascicularis and aside from humans, macaques are the most widespread and successful of all primates.
Lots of tourists visit this site as it is located right in the strategic position in the famous tourist destination that called Ubud.
