Galungan and Kuningan Day in Bali is a celebration held by Balinese Hindu every 6months. Generally Galungan and Kuningan Day will be celebrated for 3days, such as: ‘Penampahan‘ Day, Galungan or Kuningan Day and followed by ‘Manis‘ Galungan or Kuningan day. ‘Penampahan‘ Day, Balinese Hindu will make ‘Lawar‘ Bali Traditional Food which is made from mix vegetables, chopped meat and flavored by spices. On the Galungan or Kuningan day it self, Balinese Hindu will go to the temple and do the worship to the God. The next day will be the ‘Manis‘ Galungan or Kuningan day, this day is the day for family gathering and time to relax while having the food and fruit.
During the Galungan and Kuningan day, Balinese Hindu will make ‘Penjor‘ which is made from bamboo decorated by coconut leaf (‘Janur‘, ‘Ambu‘, etc). The penjor will be placed in front of the gate as you can see a long the street in Bali during the Galungan and Kuningan day. The children will play ‘Barong‘ as well to entertain the society and tourists who are traveling in Bali Island.
